What to expect on roof installation day

6:30am The Crew Arrives At Your Home

  • Our Amish Men like to get started bright and early. Especially during peak season when midday temperatures reach 80 + degrees. They will arrive in their trucks with our equipment.
  • The Crew Lead will knock on your door to allow you to move cars from the driveway. He will also ask you to confirm any special instructions or work details.
  • They begin by tarping the perimeter of your home. It's helpful to have all patio furniture and fragile items moved away from the house prior to our arrival.
  • We do not use dumpsters, they are large and often burdensome for homeowners as they arrive days prior to the project and can sit in your driveway for a week. Instead we have dump trailers that are conveniently hauled off at the end of the day.

7:00 A.M Tear off begins

  • This is the messy part! Our guys will use special scrapers to remove the layer or layers of roofing material.
  • It is often raked off an edge directly into special machines called equipters. The hail the debris into the dump trailers.
  • This process goes quickly. All old flashing, vents, pipe boots, drip edge and felt paper are removed.

8:00 am Deck Prep and Material Delivery

  • Roofing materials arrive on the job site via the local supply companies truck.
  • We prefer to time delivery this way so that you're not bothered to accommodate the delivery in advance. Stocking shingles long before a project starts is an eyesore and if positioned incorrectly can void your Manufacturer Warranty.
  • Your roof will be almost completely torn off as the truck arrives and sets up near the roof. (Be sure to notify us if your driveway has areas prone to damage.) We will avoid them completely.
  • A through inspection of the decking is completed around this time. If any board are soft, wet, rotting we will take photos and replace sheathing as needed.
  • The shingles are loaded onto a conveyor like boom and delivery directly to our roofers, who help unload the materials.
  • While that's happening some of the men begin laying ice and water guard in valleys and eves.
  • Drip edge is always applied around the perimeter in the color you have previously selected on the work agreement.
  • Owens Corning Rhino Roof Underlayment is applied over all areas where ice guard is not.

8:30 am Shingling Begins

  • Our skilled Amish craftsman will begin to nail in shingles on one by one in an impressive operation.
  • Each crew member is tasked with duties and diligently work together like a well oiled machine to provide the highest quality workmanship around.

11:30 Lunch Time

  • They usually break for lunch around noon. You will find them resting in a shady spot.
  • After 30 minutes out guys get back to work. Finishing Shingling applying ventilation products and installing ridge caps.

Early to Mid Afternoon

  • In normal condition, we complete an average size roof by early afternoon on the same day. Crew size will depend on the size and complexity of your roof. We are
  • They will begin picking up tools, blowing debris from the roof and circling the perimeter of your home with a magnet to catch any stray nails. We do our absolute best to pick every single nail and most times we do.
  • Use caution in the next few days as nails can get stuck in trees and come lose days after. A representative from Perfect Home Restoration will also inspect the grounds of your home for missed debris following the project.

Insurance Claim, Shingle Repair and Roof Replacement FAQ's

What insurance companies will and will not cover is varies, ask an expert!

Our team is paid only when your roof is approved and installed to be replaced by your insurance company. If your claim is denied or partially approved we will work to get your work fully covered. When all remaining options have been exhausted you are not obligated, nor are you under any contract to purchase a roof or any service from us. Remember, we only file claims that we see will have a high success rate of being approved. Therefor, our denial rate is incredibly low.

  • It's tricky because rates always go up.  Call your agent , ask about your policy. Keep in mind, it is not uncommon for them to discourage you from filing a claim. Good agents,  will tell you to call a couple roofing companies, have them inspect it and submit an estimate. Assuming you didn't do your due diligence is insulting, alright it's better than nothing. Even Better ones will go ahead and file the claim for you, no questions asked.

  •  It is our understanding that individuals specific policy rate is based off of thousands of different variables that are analyze your risk aka "rate" is determined by an algorithm. Listen, there is a good chance that The Zuckerberg sold your Facebook activiy from 2016/2020 who would want that data? Seriously though, I bet picking keywords from that time will tell you more about you than you know. So sure, but hail and wind storms are an acts of God. You shouldn't be punished for that.

  •  A common variable, your zipcode. Is your address at risk for severe weather or vandalism? Has their been recent severe weather there? Has there been a lot of claims filed there? Yes, your rates will probably go up wether you file a claim or not. It is likely that your rates will increase no matter what. We suggest that If you have damage to your property , use your insurance. Will your rates increase? probably. Will your rates increase if you don't file a claim? probably.
